What a wonderful event to start off the new year!
Our afternoon was successfully kicked off by our very own Brianna, who sang a beautiful rendition of Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love.” We were all definitely feeling the love from her performance, and it was a perfect beginning to an incredible show!

Brianna was followed by another infamous song, “A Million Dreams” from the award winning movie “The Greatest Showman.” This moving song was beautifully played as a duet by Cameron and Elliot Fan. There wasn’t one dry eye by the end of their performance, and everyone was swaying along to their performance.

As hard as it was to follow Cameron and Elliot’s performance, Frank wowed the audience with an incredible cello performance. He left everyone in awe of his talent, and shared with us two amazing songs.

As our event entered into full swing, Kevin Xing graced the audience with his piano skills, which were nothing short of legendary. At only 8 years old, Kevin played two beautiful RCM pieces, both from memory! It was a truly inspiring performance.

Up next we had our very own Evan Bui singing “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra, a favourite artist of many of our seniors in the audience. Everyone was swaying and singing along, and Evan’s performance was a huge hit amongst everyone, old and young.

Following Evan we had two incredible piano performances by Maverick Wang and Alicia Han. Both of these performers brought the room to life with their music, that was equal parts emotional and technical. It’s always nice to see such clear displays of talent and skill during these events, and that was most definitely the case with these two performances!

To close off our event Frank played a traditional Spanish folk song about spider bites (thankfully none were present!), followed by Brianna singing a crowd favorite: “I Could Have Danced All Night” by Audrey Hepburn. Frank and Brianna never fail to leave an impression on the audience, and their performances this afternoon were just another example of their incredible talent!

Ultimately Gen-Connect is proud to report another successful event, bringing people together, old, young, and everything in between, through the language of music!
